Biweekly Audiobook!

Image
This should have been posted last week but several things took precedence, many of them involved coming and going from airports... and airports are always the best places to get things done, I say that with a modicum of distaste for them. Anyway, this week I decided to go back to my roots and post a collection of pulp sci-fi stories for all of you, I do hope this strikes your fancy. I find these old stories comforting in many ways, and I am sure other people out there do too and it's been a very rough week or two. This compilation has some good ones in it, from various authors. Cheers!

It has been a month already, and I have a number of art commissions in the pipe. I am looking forward to more projects, but also to making time and updating and writing some. May was not a good month for updates on writing projects, it was however a good month for art. But for now, here is the bi-weekly audiobook. This time I went way back and found something more traditional. That's right, I went full " Homer" for this one. I hope you all enjoy "The Odyssey".  Cheers!

Your origin story...

Image
I might have posted this one before, but I feel it deserves a re-post if I have. We all have origin stories when it comes to how we became writers; that place, time, or situation in which we decided, and then became writers. It's important to know where we came from because that will always shape where we are going.  One of my favorite stories about how a person became a writer is Paul Auster's story and his journey. Incidentally, he is also a really good storyteller and for anyone who hasn't read his world, I recommend them. Enjoy! Cheers, and keep on creating!

The last time I posted an audiobook, I posted "Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Carroll . I mentioned that most people know the stories, but few have really read into them or their follow-ups. For instance, most people don't know that there are 14 Oz books- and many other connected works by other authors. I got to thinking and decided to post some lesser-known works from well-known authors- authors such as Lewis Carroll , L. Frank Baum , and C.S. Lewis . They didn't just write one series, most of them had works outside of what we recognize, lesser-known, but no less important books.  This week I decided to go digging and find something outside of mainstream literature. I decided to go with " The Master Key " by L. Frank Baum. Mostly to stretch my literary knowledge, as it's one I haven't read but have always wanted to.  Enjoy! Cheers, and keep on creating!

The impact of a story and it's purpose...

This one is not only for the writers out there, but also the spoken word junkies, the coffeeshop screenwriters, and even some of the songwriters out there. Karl Iglesias is a writer, teacher, and storyteller, and he has some valuable insight into why storytelling is so important, what its purpose is, and how to build a story that really moves people. I thought I would share it with all of you because I feel that what he has to say is important, especially what he has to say about the purpose of your story. Enjoy! Cheers, and keep on creating!

This time I thought I would pick something that everyone knows, but few have actually read. Much like " Oz " by Frank Baum , people know the story because of movies and media, but the story is deeper than they can capture. " Alice in Wonderland " by Lewis Carroll is another story most people know about but few have read. I thought I would dig up the audiobook and post it here. The last time I posted the works of Lewis Carroll, I posted "Alice in Wonderland", this time I will post the next one: "Through the Looking Glass and what Alice found there". Enjoy! Cheers, and keep on creating!
